An Oklahoma family is calling it a win after a jury awarded them almost $3 million in a lawsuit linked to Oklahoma's Kickapoo Turnpike. Property owner Samantha Brewer says she and her family were forced to see their custom-built home levelled, their 140-acre property split in two and 46 acres of land confiscated for the turnpike in 2018. After an almost six-year battle, a jury awarded the family $2.97 million this month. The family's attorney says the state's best offer had been about half that amount.
